Sam Bush

Bluegrass star Sam Bush is the IBMA Master's Choice Winner for this special concert. The IBMA Master's Choice award is voted on by other members of the International Bluegrass Music Association, and is given to musicians who have achieved the highest degree of excellence and popularity in their field. Leader of the progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival, a group he co-founded in 1971, Sam Bush is one of the major figures in the new grass movement. This hybrid form of bluegrass music incorporates some elements of rock and jazz. Featuring songs including "Whitewater", "Circles Around Me", "Howlin' at the Moon", "Sailin' Shoes" and more. His recent album is Radio John: Songs of John Hartford, a tribute to the folk singer-songwriter whose work has had a lasting impact on Bush and on the music of bluegrass. What a thrill to get to share the stage with someone as talented as this! Bluegrass mandolin hero, Bela Fleck, has won 3 Grammy Awards from 14 nominations, 3 consecutive IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year awards from 1990-1992, and the 2009 Americana Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist. He was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in 2006. He loves to call himself the “King of Telluride” because he has played at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for over 45 years! It is an honour to have the opportunity to have the authentic and genuine musical gifts of this true leader of the genre available for you to experience first hand – and for us to be a part of bringing some innovation and ground-breaking playing to the fiddle and mandolin world.

Sister Sadie

The Sister Sadie bluegrass quartet known for their piercing, wide-ranging vocals and instrumental skills will make their Aspen stage debut. A Grammy-nominated all-female bluegrass group founded in 2012, Sister Sadie made history in 2015 by becoming the first all-female group to win multiple International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards. Audience members will recognize songs like “All Will Be Well”, “Willow”, “If I Do Not Have You”, “Diane”, and “Winnebago”. In our opinion their latest album All Will Be Well represents a new level of their musical growth. Here is why this band was voted as the IBMA Vocal Group of the Year for three years in a row (2019-2021) and the Entertainer of the Year in 2020. Their nomination for the 2019 Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album is also a testament to their greatness. Band fiddler Deanie Richardson won the 2020 IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year award, becoming only the second woman to receive this honor.
