They are known to play some of the greatest songs of all time including "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," "Nashville Cats," and "Rain and Snow." The Del McCoury Band's latest album "Almost Proud" is an amazing album of modern bluegrass songs. The band's leader Del McCoury is known by many as the "King of Bluegrass." He has been awarded many International Bluegrass Music Association awards and was awarded a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Del McCoury's powerful voice and mastery of the bluegrass style will surely be on display at the Ryman on August 20th, 2016.

The Travelin' McCourys

The Travelin' McCourys are a high energy bluegrass band made up of two of Del McCoury's sons. The band consists of Ronnie and Rob McCoury. Ronnie is a talented singer and song writer with powerful and soulful voice. Rob is widely known as one of the premier bluegrass pickers today and was recently named one of the top 10 acoustic guitarists in the world by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. The two son's blend of bluegrass roots with unique twists bring an exciting edge to this rootsy band. They tour the country playing shows from coast to coast. They perform songs from their own self-titled album as well as old time bluegrass classics such as "Cumberland Blues" and "Jason's Grass" (written about the bands sax player Jason Carter). The band has recently joined their dad Del McCoury on the road performing with The Del McCoury Band. The Travelin' McCourys have received great reviews from fans and critics alike. The band has been nominated for a Grammy and have won numerous awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association including Album of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year.
